As mapped out at the Eleventh Plenary of the Hong Kong-Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference held in August 2008, Hong Kong and Guangdong are exploring further to strengthen and deepen co-operation on environmental protection and sustainable development in a bid to transform the PRD region into a green and quality living Area. Instead of adopting an collaborative approach on individual project, a more all-rounded and forward-looking strategy will be developed to address common environmental issues and opportunities in the whole PRD region.
The notion of transforming the PRD region into a green and quality living area further extends the regional environmental co-operation to the areas including circular economy, promotion of energy efficiency, cleaner production partnership, greening and environmental education and promotion.
